Description:

The photo depicts a young woman with two small girls. The woman is dressed in a traditional Silesian blouse with puffed sleeves and a band collar and a flower-patterned skirt trimmed at the bottom with white lace. She is holding flowers on her knees. The older girl is standing on the left, also holding flowers in her hands; standing on the right is the younger girl. The girls are wearing dresses with white ornamental collars. The photo was taken in a photographic studio in Świętochłowice - there are the following inscriptions underneath: "Atelier "Germania" - F. Pietruschka - Schwientochlowitz Bahnhofstrasse 3" ; Świętochłowice, voiv. śląskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
